Ultra 88 is a solo project from Kingston who is best know as one half of Blue Sky Black Death. Over time Blue Sky Black Death have refined their sound while I would have have described their earlier stuff as hip hop these days they fit more in some electronic shoegaze genre with artists like Prefuse 73 and Vondelpark.

This album is very inline with the recent Blue Sky Black Death music. It is very atmospheric album that features lots of samples of dreamy female vocals. There is not a lot of notable variety and it tends to blur together. That said it’s very easy to listen to as background music but when you pay attention there are nuances to the sound.
