Streets To Ourselves – The Truth Between Us

The Truth Between Us is the latest from Streets To Ourselves – the vehicle for songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Peachy. This release finds Peachy taking the plunge into pop-punk waters. After a brief “Introduction” track, radio-friendly opener “Birds & Bees” – lovesick and cheerful – whips out a bridge that harkens back to the summer of ‘99. Ballad “I’m Yours” appears halfway through and has a shared sense of optimism. But soon angsty tracks (where Peachy really shines) “I Always Knew” and “Red Light Fever” take over. Penultimate number “Thanks, I Hate You” repeats the refrain “I wouldn’t brake if I saw you cross in front of me while on the street”. Ah, this is a break-up record.

Peachy’s an accomplished player and production is slick. Tunes bounce between upbeat and immediate providing plenty of variety. Peachy takes the direct approach with his lyricism leaving little room for misinterpretation. Fans of Sum 41 and Blink-182 will find a lot to love on this record.
