Your Pal Bill: Ruins Everything is the long-awaited EP from multi-instrumentalist Bill Morton (Debt Cemetary, Wordplay). His last EP Plight of the Living Dead dropped in 2017. Heck, it’s been three years since single “Pay 2 Play” was released. A lot can happen in that amount of time. And it seems Bill has plenty to say.
The post-rock-esque soaring guitars in instrumental opener “Lived a Punk/“ flow seamlessly into hyperdrama “/Died a Poseur”. Aforementioned “Pay 2 Play” laments the struggles of original artists when pitted against the irresistibly pungent aroma of nostalgia.
“Proliferate” plays with polarity by lining up angsty introspective spoken word verses over an airy backdrop. “Leaving The Corner Lot”, begins with a more subdued rustic approach, but true to form, culminates in a mighty crescendo.
Part melodrama, part confessional, Your Pal Bill: Ruins Everything is a dynamic and varied record with nary a dull moment. Pop-punk and emo fans will lap this up.
Your Pal Bill: Ruins Everything is available digitally through Pink Lemonade Records.
