Die Hydrated is the long-awaited debut LP from North Bay power trio Peach Pact, dropping a mere seven years after their inception in 2018. It’s an interesting brew of sonic influences, pulling together riot grrl messaging, punk rock energy and post-punk brooding. Think L7 in their darker moments.

Recorded live off the floor at Deadpan Studios, the record is able to capture the band’s raw energy. Arrangements are moody yet upbeat.

“My love is a wishbone” howls vocalist Vanessa Tignanelli on “Merry Thought.” It’s a dire sounding track that bemoans a fragile and constricting relationship. Opener (and apparent travelogue) “A.ajax” pairs dread with a driving beat. Rager “82 Cents” calls out social inequity with a snarl.

The band has declared this album a 21st century punk rock manifesto. There’s still plenty of room on the bandwagon. Hop on.
